Jens joined the Community Kitchen team in 2004 as a case manager in the Family Housing Learning Center. Since that time, he has worked as a case manager in the job training program, as Director of Marketing and as Assistant Executive Director; Jens was named Executive Director in June of 2014. A native of West Virginia, Jens moved to Chattanooga as a teenager; after high school, he attended Guilford College in Greensboro, NC, where he received his undergraduate degree. He also holds an MBA from Georgia Southern University. Jens’ interest in eliminating homelessness started long before his work with the Kitchen. Volunteering at shelters in high school, Jens developed an interest in permanent housing; in college, he helped form a student-run non-profit focused on housing repair and homelessness prevention. When not at work, Jens enjoys spending time with his children, outdoor activities and fixing old things.
